Since 1994 the biennial Quality in Postgraduate Research conferences have provided an opportunity to debate the latest policies affecting postgraduate education; to exchange views on current research and good practice in the field;
and to link special staff and student interest groups. Abstracts for the 2006 Conference were invited on themese including:

Abstracts and papers were invited that address the following themes:
-The university in a knowledge society
-Changing conceptions of quality
-Globalisation and capacity development
-Managing the quality of research education

The nine papers included in this set of refereed proceedings represent an interesting range of responses to the Call for Papers.
