This report focuses on demographic change in South Australia's families and households. Family and household structures reflect the fundamental living arrangements of Australian society. This monograph aims to contribute to that understanding by changes that have occurred in the size, composition and distribution of South Australian families and households over the past decade. It examines the significance of different living arrangements, reviews the key forces generating change in household and family composition, shows how and why the household and family mix varies across space, future prospects and identifies a number of implications for policy and planning.
