School Student's Views on their Working and Learning in the Workplace

This project was designed to find the extent and learning outcomes of school students' engagement with workplaces. The focus was on work experience, paid part-time work and structured work placements using a questionnaire administered in 13 schools in New South Wales and South Australia to students in Years 10, 11 and 12, supplemented by a number of school and locality-based case studies, and interviews with employers, key policy-makers and researchers.
This report discusses the qualitative comments which students made about their workplace experiences, in response to a number of open-ended questions.
