Same-sex Partners Discussion Paper
(52.03K) At present, South Australian law does not recognise relationships between partners of the same sex.
The South Australian Labor Government is committed to removing unjustified discrimination against same-sex couples. To advance this objective, the Attorney-General and the Minister for Social Justice are collaborating in a review of State legislation. This discussion paper is intended to be the principal way the state government will consult the public on the proposed changes, and is a first step towards legislation planned for 2003. The paper examines the ways that people in same-sex relationships are treated differently under South Australian law and looks at options for removing legislative discrimination against same-sex partners.
