Our State of Inclusion

Social Inclusion Initiative
Government of South Australia

For eight years, South Australia's Social Inclusion Initiative has been driving the Government's ambition of making this state a place where all citizens, particularly those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged, feel valued and
participate fully in the life of the community.

The Social Inclusion Board was tasked with finding ways to tackle a number of pressing social challenges.

Social Inclusion has delivered on these issues by:

  • increasing school retention

  • reforming mental health processes

  • reducing homelessness

  • reducing offending by young people

  • improving Aboriginal Health and wellbeing

  • reducing economic disadvantage

  • securing funding for disability services, and

  • developing a new Social Inclusion Method.
