Experiences and perceptions of volunteering in Indigenous and Non English Speaking Background Communities extends knowledge of volunteering by examining in depth the experiences and perceptions of Indigenous people and those from NESB in relation to their voluntary activities and community effort--much of which has not been recognised, well supported, or valued--as it has often occurred outside the commonly acknowledged framework of volunteering.

The study aims to add a cultural dimension to the discussions about volunteer effort and incorporate a more inclusive approach and diverse voices to the development of appropriate policies and supports for volunteer effort in South Australia.
