Already the driest State, on the driest continent on Earth, climate change presents South Australia with a particularly challenging future, particularly for agriculture.

This booklet attempts to:

  • Present the probable impacts of climate change on South Australia's main farming sectors.

  • Identify adaptation options, using mainstream information sources such as the CSIRO and the government's Department of Climate Change.

  • Canvass opportunities that may arise from the impacts of climate change on South Australian agriculture. Because the science is evolving, this information is speculative.

  • Outline steps that can be taken at an industry and on-farm level to minimise the effects of climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

This booklet focuses on three sectors: broadacre cropping, livestock and horticulture including viticulture.

To read the report visit the Adapting to Climate Change website - report is listed under 'Adaptation to Climate Change in Agriculture'.
