This SACOSS Cost of Living Biannual Update is the second in a series of six-monthly updates on the real costs of essential services and items for households.
The findings of this Update show that while some expenses such as food and transport costs have eased over the last six months, others such as housing and utilities have risen to even greater heights. At the same time, income growth for the most vulnerable in our society has been moderate or non-existent, meaning that those on low and fixed incomes are clearly struggling even more to meet household costs than six months ago.
