The 2008 Hospital Inpatient Evaluation of Health Services (PEHS) survey presents satisfaction scores for a sample of n=4785 adult patients who received at least one night of care in the South Australian public hospital system in May through July 2008. Data were collected from August to November 2008 by means of Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) system.
Overview of findings of the survey:
(1) Consistent with previous PEHS surveys patients tended to be less satisfied with their involvement in their care and treatment.
(2) Participants in the age group, 65 years and over had a significantly higher level of Overall satisfaction than all other age groups. Participants in the 55 to 64 year age group also had a significantly higher level of satisfaction than all younger age groups.
(3) The Overall satisfaction score for the 2008 Hospital Inpatient survey was significantly higher than the Overall satisfaction score for all other PEHS survey years.
