Parental Substance misuse and child protection: what are the impacts?

Parental substance misuse has the potential to impact on virtually all aspects of a child's health and development from conception onwards, and families with parental substance misuse have high rates of child abuse and neglect, posing specific challenges for child protection workers. This publication is a review of literature and key messages about the impact parental substance misuse has on children and the child protection system.
