Until recently the Anglican Church has not provided a supportive environment for those who wished to pursue a complaint of sexual abuse by a church worker. There was little intervention to deal with the serious effects of such abuse on victims' lives in the short and long term, and usually no investigation into whether the alleged perpetrator was still active. The decision to establish the Board of Inquiry into this matter was made by the Synod of the Diocese of Adelaide in May 2003. This comprises the Report of the Board of Inquiry into the handling of claims of sexual abuse and misconduct within the Anglican Diocese of Adelaide.
