Knowledge about the problems associated with the use of heroin and other opiates in the Australian Vietnamese community is limited. The present study sought add to the available knowledge by examining issues relating to heroin use within the Vietnamese community in Adelaide, and to look at potentially useful treatment approaches for this community, including the use of tincture of opium. This research has aimed to clarify the special problems faced by drug users within the Vietnamese community in Adelaide, and look at potential ways of intervening for such individuals.
