The Adelaide City Council will vote tonight on bylaws to be introduced to move on homeless people camping in the Adelaide Parklands. ACC councillor Anne Moran told 891 Breakfast the meeting tonight would define the time limit deemed acceptable for people to sleep rough in the city's parklands. "The homeless agencies, like Hutt Street Centre, should not be alarmed by this," Councillor Moran said. "We are actually trying to help them by not allowing the process to drag on with the government agencies. "The parklands is not appropriate housing for our most vulnerable people." Ms Moran said residents and businesses had been complaining about what she claimed was an increasing population of homeless in the areas surrounding the CBD. "Living rough in the parklands is a dangerous, unsafe way to live." Ms Moran said counts provided by the State Government detailing a fall in the numbers of squatters in the parklands were not correct, the situation was deteriorating and numbers were expected to increase over the warmer months.klands.
