The Independent Gambling Authority--at the request of the Minister for Gambling--is reviewing statutory barring arrangements applying to gambling providers under South Australian law. The inquiry touches-- every South Australian who gambles; providers of gambling products; gambling help service providers; individuals who have been barred; those who are concerned about someone's gambling activity or about problem gambling generally; and researchers, particularly those who have experience regarding barring schemes in South Australia or elsewhere. The Authority welcomes submissions from people with experience or knowledge of problem gambling or barring arrangements or with an interest in gambling issues. The Authority will be holding a public hearing on Tuesday, 24 February 2009 to receive submissions from interested parties. The hearing will be held from 9.30am to 4.00pm at the Adelaide Convention Centre, North Terrace, Riverbank Rooms 1 and 2. Written submissions will also be accepted instead of or in addition to attendance at the public hearing. Written submissions will be published on the Authority's website. Information about the inquiry and how to make a submission are outlined in the Guide for participation available here. Printed copies are available on request. Those considering attending the hearing are asked to register their interest by email or telephone by no later than 2 February 2009. Written submissions must also be received by this date.
