Research Tuesdays Public Seminar Series

A Research Tuesday presentation with Professor Nick Harvey.

Title: Sea-level rise, coastal impacts and management implications.

Synopsis: People around the world are coming to grips with the potential impacts of climate change.

What does climate change mean for our coastlines?
What evidence do we have to suggest that sea-levels will rise? How can we assess the vulnerability of our coastlines?

In recent geologic time, there have been some very rapid rates of sea-level rise which help us to understand how coasts have responded to such events. This can be compared with predicted rates and impacts of sea-level rise, as outlined in the 2007 Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
