SHine SA has developed a range of resources that is available to South Australian communities to celebrate Sexual Health Awareness Week 2005, which focus on the promtion of healthy relationships and sexual assault prevention.
This workshop which will explore the issue of same-sex attraction and it's relationship to culture. The workshop is made possible by a grant received from SHine SA as part of Sexual Health Awareness Week 2005.
The three services offering the workshop are SHine SA, Bfriend - a service of UnitingCare Wesley Adelaide Inc and UNIDOS - a service of Relationships Australia SA.
The aim of the workshop is to create a space for conversations that explore the issues of same-sex attraction in migrant communities. We will also explore alternative ways of working with and accessing these communities. We also want to look at the experience of same-sex attraction people from culturally diverse backgrounds in relation to the mainstream `queer' communities.
The workshops are aimed at mainstream health/community workers whose work brings them into contact with individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Our hope is that what we explore in the workshop will inform/improve service delivery to the people in our communities from culturally diverse backgrounds.
