Australia's population of people with disability--either of a long-term nature or acquired later in life--is growing older and developing needs associated with ageing that do not displace the needs that arise from a disability. Ensuring they receive the support they require in the manner they prefer is a key challenge facing a society concerned about the full participation of all its citizens. People with disability, families and friends, service providers, governments and policy makers all have a role to play in building a better future.
The NDS 2007 Ageing and Disability Conference will seek to integrate policy, research and practice to improve society's response to the needs and lifestyle preferences of older people with disability. It will offer presentations and workshops appealing to a broad cross section of staff from service providers, but designed to be also of interest to people from government departments and academic institutions.
