A Shelter for Change: Understanding Sustainable Housing

Thursday, 16 September 2010, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
Free. Bookings essential - see below for details
The Science Exchange, 55 Exchange Place, Adelaide

Sunday September 12 is Sustainable House Day and it's all about embracing sustainable housing. But can this help turn our large cities from environmental disasters into dynamic eco-cities able to shelter large human populations with minimal environmental impact?

A panel of experts on environment, sustainability and design will join eco-city pioneer Dr Paul Downton to present their visions of what a city could and should be. Is it possible to design a city to minimise its ecological footprint and foster a sense of community? And how can we re-invent the modern city's dysfunctional ecosystem as an urban environment carefully integrated into the biosphere?

Join us for a remarkable journey into urban ecology and an opportunity to explore your own thoughts on how and what a city should be.
