Health, Disability and Lifespan Development Research Unit (HDLD) presents Professor David Roder, General Manager, Research, Cancer Council SA and Dr Vikki Knott, Senior Project Officer, Cancer Support, Cancer Council, SA.

David Roder will provide an overview of the development of Cancer Registries in Australia and will highlight strengths, weaknesses and dilemmas linked with the collection of Registry data. David will also highlight future directions and potential opportunities for research and development in epidemiology and health services research.

Vikki Knott will outline the range of projects Cancer Council SA has sponsored in 2009 and will highlight priorities and opportunities for funding for research focused on the psychosocial aspects of cancer care. Vikki will also describe the importance of engaging with consumers when preparing proposals for funding.
