Aceh: Past, Present and Future - Associate Professor Anton Lucas
The devastating Boxing Day tsunami has brought the Indonesian province of Aceh to the world's attention, but how much do we know about this close neighbour?
Associate Professor Anton Lucas, Director of the Flinders Asia Centre, will speak on the subject `Aceh: Past, Present and Future'. He will explain the history of Aceh - which, had things gone a little differently, might have been another Singapore; its present-day religion, culture and politics; and its prospects in the wake of the tsunami and how the independence movement will be affected by the disaster.
